Finns and Russians

Impromptu dogfights took place at Unique Gifts and Games on Memorial Day. First up, the Finns versus the Russians in some Winter War flying. Two Buffaloes took on two I-16 Polikarpov’s with a win for the Finns who downed one plane and shot up the other one. After a brief break, we turned to late war Americans and Germans. Six 109G’s squared off against six P-47D Thunderbolts. Ten turns later, four Gustavs were scratched and two Thunderbolts. Several veteran pilots were lost during the afternoon, including my squadron leader. Top kill leaders in the campaign are pilots belonging to newcomer Brad Hubbard (2 kills) and myself (2 kills). Everyone had a lot of fun. Thanks to Ken for providing grilled chardogs, chips and soda to everyone playing.
