The Friday night of the Labor Day weekend saw some furious action as eight Allied fighters (6 P47D’s and 2 P51D’s) faced off against six Germans (4 FW190Ds and 2 Me262 jets). Early skirmishing was inconclusive, but first blood went to the Germans, who torched a P51.

The first round of shooting was head on passes.

My ace ran out of cannon ammo again and spent the rest of the game chasing the remaining P51. Ken nailed a Fw190, then managed to ram a Me262 with one of his P47’s. Both planes survived, although damaged. Will lined up a near perfect cannon shot with his other Me262 and rolled a record damage roll (4 d20’s for a total of 55 factors). The ensuing saving roll was a ‘2,’ meaning that the P47 in question, despite its high robustness, disintegrated in mid-air.

After that, everyone decided to run for home. It was a draw, but Will’s P47 kill brought his pilot to Ace status, marking only the second Ace of the campaign.
